This is an unkind mirror for churches everywhere that forget why they exist. Unfortunately, I have personally experienced so many elements of this video both at my own churches as well as some that I have merely visited.
The source is BeyondRelevance.com and I am currently reading Richard Reisling's book called "Church Marketing 101." I am only in the beginning stages of the book but so far he's stating the obvious that many ignore. Marketing is so much more than promotion, it's about managing perceptions. I'm thankful that a lot of my job is made easier by a high "get it" factor here on staff.
